Oasis Runcorn provides detox and residential treatment. Most clients stay from 10 to 28 days, though they’re encouraged to extend their stay if they are able and responding well to the program. Accommodations and Food
The brick facility has 22 bedrooms, most double-occupancy, and treats up to 34 clients at a time. The residence has a modest yet cheerful decor. It features common areas with TV, DVDs, books and games for recreation and an outdoor space for congregating. A professional catering staff prepares all meals and snacks and is happy to accommodate dietary restrictions.
For exercise, clients are transported to a local gymnasium for workouts and swimming. Oasis Runcorn is influenced by the therapeutic community treatment model and asks residents to take responsibility for keeping their rooms and the common areas clean.
Treatment and Staff
After detox, which usually lasts seven to 10 days, clients can participate in one of two residential treatment tracks: the 12-step track and the Strengths program. Both programs include multiple processing groups each week as well as individual therapy. The 12-step program incorporates 12-step fellowship meetings in addition to support from staff on working the 12-step framework. The Strengths program is comprised of eight modules that incorporate goal-setting, harm-reduction and SMART Recovery meetings.
Concurrent with the two treatment tracks, all clients also participate in a variety of experiential and recreational therapies, including music and dance workshops, gym visits, nature walks and a mindful fitness program.
The treatment team at Oasis Runcorn includes highly-trained counsellors and recovery support workers. A general practitioner monitors clients in detox, and Oasis has a consulting psychiatrist to treat clients with co-occurring disorders.
Extras
Family members are encouraged to visit the facility before admitting their loved one. They can then visit on Sundays and receive telephone updates throughout the week.
Each client is provided with extensive discharge planning and are given options to continue treatment both inside and outside of the UK Addiction Treatment Centres network. As an alumni of UK Addiction Treatment Centres, all residents who complete their treatment plan can receive one year of weekly relapse prevention groups free of charge.
