Nuestra Clinica Residencial Review
Nuestra Clinica Residencial is an outpatient and residential treatment facility located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As a branch of the Spanish American Civic Association (SACA), Nuestra Clinica serves a community that has been broadly affected by chronic poverty, unemployment and underemployment. Opened in 2002 by a board of directors who were aiming to see more drug and alcohol abuse treatment resources for marginalized people, Nuestra Clinica programming is specifically designed to serve Latino men.
Nuestra Clinica Residencial aims to provide “culturally competent” drug and alcohol treatment at a sliding scale cost.
Accommodations and Food
The residential facility provides safe housing and simple decor to create a home-like environment. Nuestra Clinicia has 26 beds in shared bedrooms. Clients also share bathrooms. Meals are basic comfort-foods and are served three times a day. Dietary restrictions can be worked around, although are not typically an issue. Outside snacks are also allowed.
While staying at the residential house, clients are permitted personal electronics only at designated times. Smoking is not permitted on site.
Treatment and Staff
The first step towards receiving treatment at Nuestra Clinica is taking part in an assessment conducted by staff which determines the best course of treatment for each client. Those requiring detox or other needs outside Nuestra Clinica’s scope are given referrals to other community resources. Once admitted, treatment begins with an individualized plan that combines some combination of individual and group therapy and the 12-step program.
The outpatient program is arranged on a case-by-case basis, but also combines 12-step meetings and individual and group therapy. Both residential and outpatient clients have access to medication and dual diagnosis support.
Staff includes psychiatrists, LADCs, psychologists, case managers and CSWs.
Extras
Nuestra Clinica offers an extensive family program with sessions scheduled every weekend, the extent of treatment varying based on each client’s needs. Alternative programs are provided for those who cannot include family into their treatment. The facility also helps those who hope to further their education by coordinating GED and other similar resources.
