Nova Vida Recovery Review
Nova Vida Recovery is a substance abuse and dual diagnosis residential treatment program located in Algarve, Portugal. Treatment is provided entirely in English and the individualized programming is facilitated through group and individual sessions, lectures, psychoeducation and holistic modalities. Treatment is offered to adult men and women and provided in a private, luxury setting.
Accommodations and Food
The coastal residential facility offers resort-style accommodations and exquisite amenities set high in the hills overlooking the ocean. Every bedrooms is private with either a balcony or terrace and all have bathrooms. The facility is fully furnished with queen sized beds and ample storage space, and fresh towels are available daily. Nova Vida offers a home like atmosphere and is comfortable and stylish is its design. The spacious living room has large couches and chairs along with an entertainment center, modern kitchen and dining room and treatment rooms. There is also an on-site fitness center, a personal trainer, walking trails and serene gardens on the grounds.
Every meal is prepared and served on site by a chef who creates delicious and nutritious options with the client utmost health in mind using local and fresh ingredients and gourmet recipes.
Treatment and Staff
The programs through Nova Vida are personalized using best practice treatment approaches in addition to the 12-step philosophy. This facility not only treats chemical dependency, but also eating disorders, compulsive behaviors and corporate burn out. The approach is multidisciplinary and intensive, with up to 40 hours a treatment weekly. There are multiple group sessions daily and at least one individual session per week as well and daily AA meetings.
Therapeutic approaches are different for every client as to provide an individualized experience for each person. CBT, DBT, relapse prevention, talk therapy and EMDR are commonly utilized in treatment, along with expressive and experiential therapies, weekly equine therapy and written assignments. There is also an emphasis on holistic treatment methods in conjunction with the more traditional modalities, like Tai Chi, art therapy and massage.
The staff of Nova Vida brings years of experience and expertise to the clientele from all over the world. The treatment team includes Master’s-level psychologists, Equine Assisted Therapists, art therapists, LPCs, LMFTs and psychiatrists.
Extras
Couples therapy is available on an individualized basis. There are also programs specifically for pilots known as “Flight Deck” and adolescents on an outpatient basis.
