Northwest Essex Community Healthcare Network, Inc. is a group of facilities in New Jersey that treats mental health and substance abuse disorders. The Belleville facility specifically provides outpatient care for clients dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Belleville offers its clients varying levels of treatment—from a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) to regular outpatient groups and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Belleville’s PHP is specifically designed to provide dual-diagnosis support.
Treatment and Staff
Detox is not part of the picture at Northwest Essex’s Belleville location, but referrals can be made if necessary. New clients undergo a thorough evaluation of substance use and mental health related issues. The program’s psychologist develops a diagnosis and treatment plan based on the assessment. There is no mandated length of treatment time, each client goes at their own pace. The program follows a Wellness and Recovery Model, focusing on self-direction and individualized treatment.
Typically, IOP clients start their program with one hour-long individual session and three morning group sessions for 90 minutes each per week. A regular outpatient client will participate in group, individual and family therapy as needed—they attend groups between one to five days a week. One group session meets for an hour each week for outpatient and IOP clients with co-occurring disorders. Staff focus on chemical dependency counseling, while also providing help for existing psychiatric issues.
The goal of PHP is to help clients who need more support than regular outpatient clients transition back into their communities. Adults 18 and older have access to acute psychiatric services as well as assessments, group psychotherapy and education about mental illness. Medication management is also available under the supervision of staff. PHP treatment takes place Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 3:30 pm and allows clients to participate in an outpatient program while living at home. The program includes individual, group and family therapy. Case management is also available. Clients undergo assessments and evaluations to determine their progress before they can step down into traditional outpatient treatment.
The Belleville clinical team consists of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses, as well as LADCs who lead groups and weekly individual sessions.
North West Essex Community Healthcare Network provides comprehensive continuum of outpatient care for clients in a safe and structured setting. If a client requires six months or over a year of treatment, this facility can meet these needs. Make no mistake, the vibe at Belleville is institutional—but it is ideal for clients with co-occurring disorders, particularly those who need additional support through medication management.
