The Basics
Northern Pines Mental Health Center’s Chemical Health Services has two adult outpatient facilities in Wadena and Little Falls in central Minnesota. Established in 1964, the large network provides mental and chemical health services across six counties. Its current Chemical Health Services programs were established four years ago and serve adults and adolescents over the age of 13.
Treatment and Staff
NPHMC-CHS implements Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, which includes evidence-based practices, dual diagnosis support and bio-psycho-social treatment, within the structure of individual and group therapy. The program is three to four months long with groups meeting three times a week. Sessions also include work with a LADC to create personal treatment goals. Frequency of individual therapy is based on the needs of the client and additional support for those with co-occurring disorders is available via sessions with an LMHC. While the 12 steps are not included in the program, clients can choose to participate in the local recovery network outside of treatment. Outpatient services do not included detox.
Each adult outpatient facility can accept 15 to 20 clients at a time and has three to four full time staff members. Staff includes both male and female psychiatrists, LADC, LPCC, LASW.
Extras
For aftercare, clients are connected with a long-term therapist. Family education includes group therapy every six weeks and individual family conferences are available when needed.
