The Basics
Northeastern Center (NEC) is a network of five outpatient facilities with group homes and a short-term stabilization hospitals throughout rural Indiana. Opened by the state of Indiana in 1977, it is accredited by the not-for-profit organization, CARF.
Treatment and Staff
NEC offers both an Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) and standard track, which use evidence-based treatment, such as CBT and DBT, in an individual and group therapy setting. Twelve-step recovery principles are integrated in to treatment and clients are encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings in their respective communities. The facility also offers detox and dual diagnosis support. Additional mental health services include help with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, as well as anger and stress management.
The facilities are open from 8 am to 5 pm everyday; however, evening treatment hours are available if necessary. Groups are co-ed and range from five to 20 clients. Length of treatment is based on the individual need and clients can attend treatment anywhere from once a month to seven times a week, with transportation to/from provided.
There are a total of 240 male and female staff members, which consist of MDs, RNs, LADCs, LSWs and case managers.
Extras
NEC’s aftercare is made up of group therapy, home visits and ongoing case management. It offers a family program that includes child and adolescent services.
NEC also offers a short-term stabilization hospital and four group homes with varying levels of supervision. Its New Hope Clubhouse provides social interaction and volunteer services for clients battling mental illness.
