Boise IdahoNorthPoint Recovery Review

NorthPoint Recovery offers medical detox and residential substance abuse treatment services for men and women in Boise, Idaho. This facility provides holistic care that is individualized and goal oriented. Treatment methods include CBT, individual and group focused therapies.

Accommodations and Food

The facility is a freestanding medical building with 22 beds in total. This is a co-ed program but men and women are separated during treatment. The bedrooms are double occupancy with full beds, shelving units and ample closet space. There are several bathrooms within the facility, including a couple with showers that the clients share and maintain during their stay.

Though the facility may appear to have a clinical feel, comfort is an important factor of NorthPoint, and there are many areas that are designed for relaxation. Large couches and easy chairs with mounted televisions throughout the building are available for clients in between treatment programming. There is a dining room with large round tables where clients are served three meals a day, an on-site laundry facility and a beautifully landscaped backyard. The outdoor area is complete with umbrella covered picnic tables, park benches and tall trees that make for a relaxing atmosphere. A professional caterer provides meals daily that are tasty and nutritious. There are snacks available throughout the day, like fresh fruit or nuts.

Treatment and Staff

The treatment process begins with an in-person meeting with the client and an intake professional and placement within the program is determined by the individuals needs. Detox typically lasts for about five days, and is medically monitored 24 hours a day. During this phase clients begin to participate in group and individual therapy sessions and become familiar with the 12 steps.

After finishing detox clients have the option to move into the residential program, which lasts for 28 days or longer. The days revolve around several group therapy sessions, pyschoeducation classes, physical and recreational activities, including hikes and personal training. There are holistic therapy options like art and music therapy, daily meditation practice, and focus on reintegrating clients into the community with daily support group attendance at either and AA, NA or Celebrate Recovery meeting and volunteering.

Clients work closely with their therapists to design an aftercare plan that may include attending the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which nine hours a week for another month after completing the inpatient portion of treatment. For clients that are coming from out of town the staff is able to connect them to support groups and outpatient programs in their area.

Benjamin Seymour, CADC, is the CEO and Founder of NorthPoint Recovery and heads up a staff of over 30. They are a combination of clinical, medical and administrative staff including LPCs, RNs, Psych techs, Medical doctors and LPNs.

Extras

Exercise is incorporated into treatment and includes instructor lead yoga and a fitness room with cardio machines. Clients who smoke are permitted to in designated areas, and family visitation is allotted on the weekends with prior approval. After the first 72 hours in the program clients can use the facility phone to call friends and family, but bringing a cell phone into treatment isn’t allowed.

In Summary

Boise, Idaho is probably not the first place people picture when thinking about getting top-notch treatment for drugs and alcohol addiction. However, the programs and staff at NorthPoint may convince prospective clients otherwise, especially after reading the glowing reviews on its Facebook page.
