The Basics
Located in Huntington Beach, California, Next Step Recovery is an expansive behavioral health facility that offers treatment for men and women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, incoming clients go through an initial intake and assessment process which helps staff members develop their treatment plan. Those who need housing for the duration of the program can be placed in a sober living as well.
Though the specifics vary, IOP generally meets three to five times a week for three to five hours per session. Programs also include an emphasis on trauma-informed care, with dual diagnosis support and medication management also incorporated when applicable. All participants are also required to attend regular 12-step meetings and work with a sponsor.
The staff at First Step Recovery consists of case managers, CADCs, LMFTs, RNs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to clinical sessions, these programs also feature holistic care methods which may include martial arts like yoga, boxing and Tai Chi; other methods like chiropractics, acupuncture and massage therapy; and meal planning classes with nutritional counseling.
Those who attend outpatient therapy during the middle of the day can also receive catered meals for lunch. Other services include transportation for those in the area and those who live in the organization’s sober living facilities.
