Newport Integrated Behavioral Healthcare Review
Located in an Atlanta suburb, Newport Behavioral Integrated Healthcare offers a range of services and programs for various levels of substance abuse. Not only does Newport treat addiction but also the physical and emotional issues that feed the addiction, stressing collaboration between the client, family and staff. Accommodations and Food
Residential clients live in a coed hospital setting. They have access to TV and a common living space where they can socialize and unwind after therapy sessions. Personal electronics are not allowed.

Treatment and Staff
Services include residential treatment, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), day treatment, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and family intervention.
Newport’s integrated dual diagnosis support uses the Stage-Wise process of recovery, which recognizes change is a process that does not happen quickly or easily. Using four principles—engagement, persuasion, active treatment and relapse prevention—counselors helps clients navigate the Stages of Change.
Outpatient treatment, which is offered four days a week, evenings and on weekends, consists of a combination of group and individual therapy of varying intensity and frequency, depending on a client’s needs. Group therapy is gender-separate and addresses a client’s substance abuse and mental health issues separately. Intensive outpatient typically is scheduled for three hours a day and allows the client to live at home as well as continue school or a job at the same time.
For clients who need more support and structure than outpatient treatment but who don’t require 24-hour medical supervision, partial hospitalization includes a full day of therapy and classes, after which clients return home in the evening. The day goes from 9 am to 3 pm, Mondays through Fridays.
Day treatment is a series of structured face-to-face therapy sessions available four days a week, with some available in the evening and on weekends. Family intervention, which is primarily for adolescents, is designed to improve family functioning.
Led by a board-certified psychiatrist, Newport’s professional staff includes psychologists, nurses, social workers and counselors. Clinical staff have experience working with clients of all ages and diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
