The Basics
Newfound Recovery is an organization that provides sober living environments for men and women in the New England area. Founded in 2012, each of its facilities runs on a peer-supported recovery model and often serves as a step-down option from inpatient treatment. Baxter House, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is a transitional care home for men, conveniently located 15 minutes north of Providence. Accommodations and Amenities
The three-story house is divided into three units: a one-bedroom apartment on the top floor for a married couple, a two-bedroom apartment on the middle floor for three residents and a three-bedroom apartment on the first floor for four residents. Though the levels remain separate from one another, each has a communal living area with a TV and kitchenette. Bedrooms come equipped with twin beds (with the exception of a queen bed in the top unit), end tables and shared closet space. Since the apartments are designed for independent living, residents are expected to prepare their own meals.
Rules and Regulations
Applicants must be 30 days substance-free unless they are currently detoxing; those on methadone or Suboxone are welcome to attend. All clients must remain sober, participate in random and regular drug testing, maintain employment, attend regular 12-step meetings and obey a basic house behavioral contract.
