Pequannock new JerseyThe Basics

NewBridge Services is a nonprofit network of facilities providing outpatient substance abuse treatment to adults and adolescents in New Jersey. NewBridge Services was founded on December 23, 1963 at the Pequannock Valley Mental Health Center by three local leaders–the Rev. Donner A. Atwood, Dr. Kurt Manrodt and municipal judge Herbert Irwin–who wanted to help the community expand in a positive direction.

Although the NewBridge Services headquarters are located in Pequannock Township, clients can access care at 36 other sites throughout Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties. All services are offered at a sliding scale cost, making treatment accessible to all.

Treatment and Staff

The first step is an initial assessment where staff determines whether NewBridge Services is the right fit, with referrals given to more intensive treatment facilities or detox as needed. Clients who are enrolled in treatment meet with staff to create an individualized treatment plan based on their unique recovery needs. These plans combine individual and group therapy and the 12-step framework. Staff are qualified to treat clients with dual diagnosis issues. Clients can attend morning or evening programs, depending on their schedule.

Both adults and adolescent clients participate in psychoeducational groups as well as specialty support for co-dependency and co-occurring disorders. Additionally, medication management and nutritional counseling services are available. Young clients also participate in prevention awareness groups and sessions that include their educators and parents.

The staff is under the management of a medical director and includes psychiatrists as well as Master’s-level professionals including LADCs, LSWs, adolescent specialists, case managers, domestic violence professionals, nutritionists, play therapists and CSWs.

Extras

Following treatment, those who are looking for further support in the form of aftercare may enroll in NewBridge’s relapse prevention. Individual counselors meet with clients to plan the best post-treatment plan for each client. Continued one-on-one therapy and 12-step meetings are usually recommended.

Although not specifically tailored for addiction recovery, clients might benefit from one of NewBridge’s residential programs for adults with developmental disabilities or who are living in poverty develop skills to support their living autonomously.

In Summary

One of the primary goals of NewBridge Services is to provide a positive, safe and nonjudgmental environment that respects the rights and dignity of clients. NewBridge Services offers a comprehensive outpatient treatment program with services for co-occurring disorders. With more than 50 years of serving the community, this New Jersey treatment facility is a solid choice for adults and adolescents seeking traditional therapeutic recovery that incorporates the 12-steps.
