New Start Recovery Review
New Start Recovery offers detox and residential services Southern California’s Orange County. It provides upscale accomodations for men and women who are struggling with co-occurring disorders and addiction. Programming is comprised of the 12 steps, 24 hour a day medication monitoring, intensive group and individual therapy and some therapeutic social activities. Treatment is based on a four phase step-down system that results in either a recommendation to continue on to the outpatient program or the sober living transitional facility.
Accommodations and Food
The detox housing and residential facility are both able to accommodate six clients each. Residents live in plush, double occupancy bedrooms complete with Tempurpedic mattresses. The detox facility is in Santa Ana, and once stabilization is completed clients move to the Tustin residential home. Both of the homes are elegantly decorated and spacious with comfortable furnishings and plenty of backyard space that includes a pool and soothing hot tub. The common areas (living room, dining room and kitchen) have large leather couches, and long tables for family style meals, all of which are prepared by an on-site chef who makes fresh, organic options and is able to accommodate clients dietary restrictions and requests. There also healthy snacks set out all day that includes fruits, nuts, and breads.
Treatment and Staff
Clients in the detox program are typically there for three to seven days, with the first 48 hours being heavily monitored by medical staff to ensure a comfortable transition during the withdrawal stage. During detox if clients are up for it there are both group and individual therapy options available, along with some fun, in-house activities that incorporate addiction education and stimulating recovery based games.
Once a client begins with the residential stage of treatment they launch into a structured schedule of individualized therapy and activities. At the beginning of their programs clients establish a Wellness Recovery Action Plan, or W.R.A.P. that consists of a daily, personalized maintenance plan that helps deal with stressors, triggers or feelings of anxiety or depression. There are also regular relapse prevention and coping skills sessions, and a fair amount of social support.
Treatment approaches include The Matrix Model, CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, meditation and mindfulness. There are also daily AA/NA meetings clients attend both on and off site.
The treatment team is made up for Master’s-level therapists, psychiatrists, CADCs, MFTs, case managers, and residential support staff.
There are a variety of fun and unique sober experiences like the Amplified program, which includes a number of fitness options like yoga, rock climbing, crossfit and boxing. Clients also get a membership to a gym while in treatment. The Rock to Recovery program is geared towards musicians and provides mentorship from professionals who guide them into writing and performing their own songs.
New Start Recovery offers detox and residential treatment that implements evidence-based practices and 12-step programming. Clients can enjoy chef and housekeeping amenities, as well as Southern California surroundings, in a comfortable home while receiving well-balanced treatment for withdrawal and addiction. New Start Recovery promotes long-term wellness and recovery, along with arming its clientele them with a solid foundation for maintaining sobriety.
