Based out of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, New Roads Behavioral Health is an expansive organization that provides a number of flexible treatment programs to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. In addition to its flexible outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) options, the facility also offers residential treatment plans for men just south of Salt Lake City.
Accommodations and Food
All told, the men’s facility has a total of 32 beds. All residents stay in dorm-style accommodations with shared rooms, each with twin beds, dressers, end tables and shared closet space. Other parts of the facility include lounges and common areas with cable TV, therapy rooms, an outdoor Zen garden, a dining area and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Throughout their stay, all residents receive three meals a day prepared by on-site chefs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their care plans. While on-site detox services are not available, those in need can get referrals to nearby programs. Once stabilized, residents attend full days of treatment which include individual and group therapy with eivdence-based treatment practices including CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Dual diagnosis support and medication management services are also provided. Groups cover many different topics including meditation, mindfulness, life skills, emotional processing, anger management and psychoeducation. While 12-step participation is not always required, the curriculum does draw on some 12-step teachings.
The staff at New Roads Behavioral Health consists of MDs, psychiatrists, LMHCs, LCSWs, RNs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
As mentioned, the organization also offers flexible outpatient care for those seeking stepped down aftercare plans; transitional living is also available. Other services include a PRIME for Life program for those with DUI/DWIs, standalone drug and alcohol education groups and psychological assessments.
In all, New Roads Behavioral Heath’s men’s program provides a stable, residential environment for individuals to pursue recovery. Treatment consists of evidence-based care practices, dual diagnosis support and psychiatric oversight. While the cost of treatment may vary depending on each participant’s insurance, New Roads Behavioral Health’s men’s residential program remains a strong resource worth considering.
