The Basics
Located in Richfield, Minnesota, New Perspectives Behavioral Health Services is an outpatient counseling facility that offers treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. With day and evening sessions available, programs are flexible, affordable and open to self-referred and court-ordered clientele; including those in need of DWI classes and Rule 25 assessments.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients must go through an initial intake and assessment to determine their needs. While each program may vary, all work within the structure of individual and group therapy and require outside 12-step participation. However, what separates New Perspectives from other outpatient programs is its holistic care component. This emphasizes spirituality, nutrition and exercise in addition to evidence-based therapy, which uses CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Additional educational groups that discuss the disease of addiction and relapse prevention are also available.
Staff consists of a team of LADCs led by founder John Woods. He has been sober for over 30 years and has served as a chemical dependency counselor for more than 20.
Extras
Because New Perspectives is a culturally-sensitive facility, they also offer educational sessions on African-American history and self-esteem building.
Additional services include standalone mental health counseling and chemical dependency assessments.
