New Life Recovery Centers Review
New Life Recovery Centers has been providing affordable treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues in San Jose, California since 2004. Their programs range from detox to residential to sober living and the staff of 20 has more than 45 years of combined experience.
Accommodations and Food
The accommodations at New Life Recovery Centers consist of three apartment buildings with a total of 23 beds. Clients share small bedrooms, usually with one other client. The bedrooms are set up like dorms, featuring twin-sized beds, wooden dressers and a desk. A three-person shared room is assigned randomly when needed and has the drawback of bunk beds. Residents are in charge of keeping their living spaces clean and organized and a list of chores is split among the group.
The apartments also feature kitchens and living rooms with a television. Outdoor seating provides space to enjoy the sun or smoke a cigarette. While this facility does not have a full gym, a small selection of workout equipment is available for use during free time.
A professional chef prepares three meals a day and can accommodate certain dietary requests. A soda machine is available from morning till night.
Treatment and Staff
With a staff-to-client ratio that is almost one-to-one, clients can be assured of lots of individual attention. Certified chemical dependency techs are available for round-the-clock care while medical doctors, psychiatrists and nurses are on call. For those needing physical stabilization, a five-day, medically monitored detox costs an additional $3,000. Once this process is completed, clients begin a minimum of 30 days of residential treatment involving individual therapy at least once a week and group therapy that centers around relapse prevention, life skills, goal setting, processing, 12-step work, trauma and codependency. For those who wish to work on family dynamics, family therapy is available.
In addition to therapy, five AA/NA meetings are held each week at New Life Recovery Centers. Clients can also go off-site to attend meetings twice a week in the community.
Once residential treatment is completed, clients have a variety of step-down options. The day program offers treatment six times a week for six hours per day while the outpatient program is available three times a week for three hours per day. Both of these programs include a mix of group therapy, individual therapy and 12-step meetings. The program also offers sober living housing that provides a residence for those who desire a structured living environment while working or attending school.

Clients of New Life Recovery Centers receive free lifetime aftercare which includes weekly group therapy and access to addiction specialists.
