New Life Addiction Treatment has operated about 35 miles north of West Palm Beach in Palm City, Florida since 2010. Owned and operated by a couple of neurologists whose son has dealt with addiction issues, New Life offers detox, as well as a 30 to 90 day inpatient program and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients spend their first week at New Life in detox. Once they move into the residential phase, they have an intense schedule of several individual sessions per week, depending on their need. They also take part in group therapy, may have counseling along with family members and receive substance abuse education and MET. Life skills training and anger management are also part of the curriculum. Clients get over 35 treatment hours per week.
New Life focuses on relapse prevention, and works with those dealing with trauma, bipolar disorder, depression and other co-occurring disorders. Clients are able to attend outside AA/NA meetings, while several 12-step meetings also take place on-site. For those of Jewish faith, New Life offers the same services with an extra focus on a heightened comprehension of their faith. Meanwhile, holistic treatment at New Life introduces different types of psychotherapy, such as music and art therapy, physical activities like mountain climbing, hiking and biking and organic, all-natural meal plans.
The New Life IOP maintains the same treatment apparoaches as the inpatient program meeting just nine hours a week and without the clients staying at the New Life homes. Those in need of even less intensive support may take part in two hour counseling sessions at New Life offices once times per week.
New Life staff includes a psychiatrist, a chaplain, registered nurses and CSACs.
Extras
Various outings take place on weekends. Beach and movie outings, bowling and fishing trips are some of the options. Clients are also encouraged to go to the gym four times a week, may enjoy massage therapy, yoga, Tai Chi and meditation, as well as take part in equine therapy, recreational horseback riding and kayaking.
