New Leaf Counseling Group is an outpatient treatment facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. It provides therapy services for clients of all ages struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, as well as personal, marital and/or family challenges. Founded in 2014 by Logan Cohen, an LMFT, New Leaf primarily offers individual, group and family therapy rooted in an array of evidence-based, holistic and traditional therapeutic models.
Treatment and Staff
New Leaf encourages clients to view therapy as a joint experience where the individual and therapist can collaborate to achieve goals. Treatment strategies are customized to meet the specific needs of the client as determined by a comprehensive evaluation performed in the first session. The individual’s medical and psychological history, current circumstances and vision for the future are all taken into account. The length of treatment is not predetermined, rather it lasts as long as necessary based on the individual’s situation.
The team at New Leaf treats depression, anxiety and trauma as well as personal, marital and family problems. The facility understands that treatment is not “one size fits all.” As such, New Leaf provides a multi-faceted approach to care that integrates a number of therapies including solution-focused therapies, evidence-based methods, experiential models, psychodynamic therapy and new innovative practices. Clients engage in CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), traditional talk therapy, mindfulness meditation and biofeedback to train clients to control bodily processes that are normally involuntary, like muscle tension, blood pressure and heart rate. New Leaf treats couples going through a range of relationship troubles such as financial concerns, infidelity or a poor sex life. Couples come to better understand their dynamic, and how to more effectively communicate and avoid negative patterns.
New Leaf is comprised of a team of PhDs, licensed counselors and MFTs. Neither the 12-step method nor medication management are components of the programming.
The facility also offers specialized group sessions for premarital and married couples that focus on a range of topics including pregnancy, infertility and masculinity.
New Leaf Counseling Group boasts an experienced and passionate staff and a holistic treatment model that integrates evidence-based, psychodynamic, solution-focused and experiential therapies as well as psychoeducation and relationship workshops. New Leaf is a great resource for clients in search of comprehensive care on the outpatient level.
