Treatment and Staff
Potential clients begin with an evaluation before beginning treatment. Since New Hope Recovery Center does not offer detox services, they have partnerships with nearby hospitals in the Chicago area that can provide clients with medical detoxification. New Hope’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) meets five days a week from 8:30 am to four pm. PHP typically goes for six weeks, with groups consisting from anywhere to 10 to 12 individuals. Clients meet with their counselors on an individual basis every week. Dual-diagnosis support is available to clients with mental health issues that need additional treatment, as well. After successful completion of PHP, New Leaf offers the option to step down to an IOP schedule.
IOP meets either in the evening from six to nine pm or during the day from 8:30 to 11:45 am. This program gives an individual the opportunity to transition back to their daily work/school/home environments while still benefiting from a structured and supportive therapeutic treatment program. The program includes individual and group therapy, 12-step meetings and family programming which occurs Saturdays from 9:30 am until one pm. After completion of the PHP and IOP programs, New Hope Recovery Center also provides clients with transitional care, which includes weekly groups, for 18 months following treatment, and also follows-up with clients and family on a regular basis.
The staff at New Hope Recovery Center is headed by Jeffery Zacharias, who is a LCSW, CDAC, Board Registered Interventionist (BRI-I), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Registered Dual Disorder Professional (RDDP) with extensive clinical experience in both the mental health and addictions fields. The remaining multidisciplinary staff also includes a board certified psychiatrist, Master’s-level counselors, LCSWs, recreational therapists, a yoga instructor and trained interventionist.
There is also an aftercare program that includes weekly group meetings every Monday and Tuesday night. For alumni, there is also an active group where past clients are notified of service opportunities, additional workshops and special events. New Hope also offers a structured family program that consists of educational presentations and also interactive process-oriented groups that offers support and can help the family recover as a whole. There are also on-site Alanon meetings following the family program on Saturdays.
For those who need a safe place to live, New Hope Recovery Center has housing partnerships with nearby gender-specific supportive sober living facilities. At New Hope Recovery Center, yoga happens weekly, as they believe that drug and alcohol recovery should address the whole person—including mind, body and spirit—and that yoga therapy allows for this specific integration to restore physical and mental health.
New Hope Recovery Center also offers a separate LGBT treatment program located on the Northside of Chicago and provides a safe space to the LGBT community to discuss their own experiences while having access to a variety of resources including 12-step LGBT meetings, a strong alumni/volunteer base and therapists and doctors dedicated to the mental and physical health of the LGBT community.
At New Hope Recovery Center, each client is encouraged to build a solid foundation in treatment that will increase their success in long-term recovery. The highly-qualified staff addresses addiction from the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects. With an extensive aftercare program designed to help alumni stay active in the local recovery community, New Hope Recovery Center offers a comprehensive outpatient program that can help successfully foster long-term sobriety for their clients.
