Homestead FloridaNew Hope CORPS Review

New Hope CORPS is a non-profit community and faith-based organization that provides a variety of services including substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care and residential services to the homeless population in the suburban Miami area. Located in Homestead, Florida, NHC offers both residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs for men and women that incorporate evidence-based therapy and the 12-step philosophy of recovery.

Food and Accommodations

Clients enrolled in the residential track are accommodated in the same facility as the treatment and outpatient services. Residents sleep in gender-specific dormitory rooms that are typically double-occupancy with men and women sharing separate bathrooms. There are common living areas, an on-site laundry facility and a recreation room. Meals are served three times a day in a cafeteria-style setting.

Treatment and Staff

Both the residential and outpatient programs at New Hope CORPS incorporate a multi-faceted approach to recovery which integrates psychiatric, psychological and medical aspects into treatment. Prior to admission, counselors evaluate and assess each client to develop an individualized treatment plan to match their specific needs, determining whether the residential or outpatient track are the better fit.

Clients enrolled in the outpatient program typically participate in addiction education, group and individual therapy, AA/NA meetings, medication management, case management and life-skills training. Twelve-step meetings and group sessions are scheduled weekly at the facility, while individual therapy and other services are scheduled independently.

Those admitted in the residential program attend daily group therapy sessions, 12-step meetings, educational seminars and weekly skills training and individual sessions. The methodology implemented in therapy sessions at NHC is CBT.

The staff at New Hope CORPS consists of LPCs and CADCs.

Extras

In addition to the comprehensive residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, NHC also offers a variety of other services to both clients and the community at large. These services include job placement and vocational training as well as transitional housing and mental health counseling for the homeless.

In Summary

New Hope CORPS is a traditional recovery program for those seeking evidence-based methodology either in an outpatient or residential setting. Services are primarily reserved for the homeless and indigent population in the region, helping to transform the lives of the poverty-stricken and under-served. Compassionate and credentialed staff work closely with each client to help foster new skills and tools to rebuild lives.
