The Basics
Located about 40 miles south of Seattle in Bonney Lake, Washington, New Freedom Recovery Center is an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility for adolescents and adults. New Freedom serves all of Pierce and South King Counties and works with the local courts to assist in alternative sentencing for drug and alcohol-related offenses. Although many clients are court-mandated, self-referred individuals are also welcome. New Freedom offers a range of services that includes assessments, referrals, individual and group therapy, relapse prevention and a family program.
Treatment and Staff
The programs at New Freedom Recovery Center begin with an initial assessment. Since only the basic outpatient level treatment is offered, referrals are provided for those who need detox, inpatient or an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). For new clients, an individualized treatment plan is developed based on their recovery goals and situation.
Clients attend a personalized weekly mix of CBT-based group and individual therapy, which is generally 12-step oriented. The facility offers both gender-specific and co-ed groups with specific sessions for those dealing with DUIs and criminal justice issues, in addition to anger management and relapse prevention tracks. It also has age-specific groups for adolescents. Most clients are required to attend outside AA or NA meetings in the community to compliment their recovery programs.
While those with co-occurring disorders are welcome, New Freedom Recovery Center does not specifically offer dual diagnosis support. However, it can provide referrals to local psychiatrists and other programs if necessary. The facility employs social workers and LCDCs.
Extras
New Freedom Recovery Center offers anger management, domestic violence and parenting classes for those who are court-ordered. The facility also has a family program, which includes multi family groups and private family counseling sessions.
