The Basics
The New England Recovery Center of Westborough, Massachusetts was originally established in 2015 as part of Spectrum Health to offer detox and inpatient and outpatient services to those who are in need of structured treatment to get off of drugs and alcohol. Outpatient programs include an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard step-down OP treatment, rooted in both evidence-based individual and group therapy, and 12-step recovery. New England Recovery Center also facilitates Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and dual diagnosis support.
Treatment and Staff
It’s not uncommon for clients who have recently come out of the inpatient track at New England Recovery Centerto step down to the IOP. The outpatient programs are able to accommodate both adults and adolescents and provide individualized treatment plans for them. If one is entering into the IOP there are two group therapy sessions and one individual session per treatment day, and they run for a minimum of three weeks anywhere between five and three days per week at first.
There are also opiate outpatient treatment options that can provide MAT and can include Suboxone, Methadone and Vivitrol. This track is a little more intensive in the sense that clients have to be at the facility on a daily basis in order to receive their medications. Prior to admission to this track, clients undergo a full medical exam and clinical assessment. Additionally they are permitted to attend regular group and individual therapy. The opiate program has a same day admission policy, so clients don’t have to worry about a long wait list.
The treatment approaches include CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and some mindfulness approaches. There are also regular AA and NA meetings and a focus on relapse prevention, coping skills, learning to identify triggers, and incorporating stress reduction into every days lives.
There is an experienced, multidisciplinary team of clinicians at the New England Recovery Center that include recovery specialists, medical staff and LPCs.
Extras
There are ongoing aftercare services that include case management, weekly or monthly therapy sessions, and assistance with monitoring and drug screens. Additionally New England Recovery Center offers alumni activities and weekly meetings on site. Family programming is comprised of educational elements along with group and individual therapy. Transportation can be arranged in some cases and is established before the client begins their treatment cycle.

The outpatient treatment program through New England Recovery Center is a perfect step down continuation of programming established in the inpatient track, through it also works well for those who have not participated in that step. There are structured treatment plans that encompass each clients needs along with the guidance of support groups within the facility along with the 12-step community. Clients are also monitored once they leave the security of treatment with check in and meetings provided by the staff.
