The Basics
Based out of Baker City, Oregon, New Directions Northwest Inc is a multi-faceted behavioral health organization that offers a range of programs for addiction and mental health. Aside from its residential and sober living programs, the organization also provides flexible outpatient treatment for adults, families and children.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial intake and psychiatric assessment, clients work with staff members to develop individualized treatment plans. Clients in need of detox will be referred to one of the organization’s short-term inpatient facilities. Once stabilized, clients attend individual and group therapy that uses evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Family therapy, with an emphasis on strengthening communication and collaborative problem-solving, is also available; as is added support, medication management and case management for clients with co-occurring disorders. Though not required, clients are strongly encouraged to attend 12-step meetings outside of treatment.
Staff consists of LDACs, CADCs, LPCs, LCSWs, LCSWs, MDs, psychiatric nurse practitioners and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Other services include an outpatient program for clients with developmental disabilities, which provides support, training and employment assistance. The Total Health program, in conjunction with the nearby St. Alphonsus hospital, helps substance abuse clients with pain management and other medical and psychiatric support. All programs are open to court-ordered and self-referred clients.
