The Basics
New Beginnings Minnesota offers outpatient substance abuse treatment programs with seven branches throughout the state of Minnesota. For the past 30 years, NBM has provided a state-licensed safe haven for individuals struggling with addiction with both residential and outpatient facilities scattered throughout the state. Offices are available in Litchfield, Olivia, El River, St. Peter, Worthington and Minnetonka. Treatment at NBM can be paid for by insurance or through a Minnesota County grant called Rule 25 Assistance. Clients requiring inpatient care may be referred to the Waverly facility which accommodates both men and women.
Treatment and Staff
The first step of treatment at NBM is an intake assessment during which counselors determine whether the outpatient track is the right fit. Those who require detox services are referred to another facility in the community. An individualized treatment plan is developed which combines individual and group therapy and the 12-step program of recovery. During the second week of treatment, family therapy is incorporated if individual therapists deem it appropriate and beneficial.
Clients enrolled in the outpatient program are encouraged to develop a recovery community, find employment, finish school, repair damaged relationships and develop skills for maintaining sobriety. In short, clients are encouraged to build a new life based on their new-found health and to become responsible members of the community while they have the support of counselors, staff and peers.
The staff members at NBM include a physician and LADCs.
Extras
Perks include an exercise and activity center for clients use with staff permission. There is also an aftercare program that helps clients transition into the “real world”. This includes meeting with an individual counselor to discuss the best route of sustained recovery for each client. Alumni support is also included in aftercare, connecting those further along in their recovery with new-comers.
