Treatment and Staff
Nevada Skies offers a number of treatment methods that include cultural and spiritual modalities. Group and individual therapy sessions are offered several times a week, as well as the White Bison curriculum, which is a Native American organization that was established in 1988, and promotes whole body and mind wellness through education and therapy. Additionally Nevada Skies uses cultural practices like a sweat lodge, traditional dance and smudging in their treatment. Though these options are offered, it is not required that the clients participate in them and the facility doesn’t push any religion or set of spiritual beliefs on any of their clientele.
During their three to four month stay in treatment, the boys become familiar with AA and attend daily on-site meetings. CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are commonly employed therapeutic methods utilized by the staff. In addition, education is emphasized while in treatment and the clients are required to continue their schooling by completing their GED or receive vocational training. For those with co-occurring disorders, there is a nurse available 24 hours a day for medication management services.
