Mountain Manor EmmitsburgThe Basics

Founded more than 35 years ago by businessman Charlie Roby and Dr. Jacob Fishman, Mountain Manor Treatment Centers provides intervention, detox, residential and outpatient substance abuse services in several Maryland locations. The facility in rural Emmitsburg, 56 miles northwest of Baltimore, offers adult inpatient services, a women and children’s program and a co-occurring residential program. Mountain Manor Treatment Center’s Baltimore facility is home to the young adult programs.

Accommodations and Food

The Emmitsburg adult residential program has a 46-bed capacity. Residents are assigned one to two roommates of the same gender and rooms are furnished dorm-style with twin beds, desks and armoires. Also housed in the Emmitsburg facility are participants in New Horizons, a long-term residential treatment program for 25 court-ordered men and women with co-occurring issues, and Safe Harbor,  a residential program for 25 pregnant and post-partum women who enter treatment with their children and infants.

Residents can expect comfort food, including home-cooked chicken and fish. There are three hot meals served daily, cafeteria-style.

Treatment and Staff

Upon admission, all residents receive complete assessments and individualized treatment plans. Detox services are available. Mountain Manor Treatment Centers uses Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including Suboxone and Vivitrol, and staff psychiatrists may prescribe medication for those with co-occurring disorders. Residential treatment is typically 30 days.

The rehab combines a 12-step approach with evidence-based treatment, specifically CBT. There is a strong focus on providing dual diagnosis support. Treatment includes daily group therapy, individual therapy (scheduled per client’s needs) and attendance at AA/NA meetings both on and off the premises. Group topics include anger management, relapse prevention, healthy relationships, mindfulness and wellness, and coping techniques, as well as developing healthy communication strategies.

Safe Harbor’s services include an approved nursery, child care, after-school tutoring, parenting classes, vocational preparation and a step-down transition back to the community.

Mountain Manor Treatment Centers employs CADCs, counselor techs, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and psychologists. Some staff members are trainees from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine and other local universities. Medical director Marc J. Fishman is an addiction psychiatrist and member of the psychiatric faculty at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Extras

Mountain Manor Treatment Centers also provides aftercare and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for those who have already completed a residential program or wish to minimize disruption to their daily lives. The rehab also operates Health Quest, a mental health dual diagnosis support center.

In Summary

With a well-rounded treatment methodology and a highly credentialed staff, Mountain Manor Treatment Centers is an affordable option for those seeking substance abuse recovery services and dual diagnosis support.

  1. Mountain manor is grossly understaffed. The patients are out shoveling the snow in the winter months. perkacets were coming in through visitors in October 2018 due to a lack of staffing. Cell phones with cameras and internet capabilities are throughout the facilities possessed by patients and offices are left open and unmanned by staff for periods of time so your right to confidentiality will be in jeopardy if you attend this facility. Furthermore, New Horizon male patients were having sexual relations with Safe Harbor females in the exercise room in the morning.

  3. Mountain Manor on

We’re sorry you feel this way.
We have heard very positive results from patients, families, state agencies, and The Joint Commission for over 35 years. We have been told that above all, we are known as extremely compassionate and caring. The majority of our alumni have done very well in recovery.

  4. Representative on

Don’t waste your time & money on this “facilty”. It’s truly a sad, negative, unempathetic atmosphere. The staff is not equipped with any tools to help with the management of being compassionate & considerate. As a representative of the state my efforts are to better the lives of all people in the state of Maryland.
