The Basics
Monmouth County Division of Social Services is a branch of Monmouth County community services that provides behavioral health services and addiction treatment services to Central New Jersey communities. Located about a half hour from vacation-destination Asbury Park in the township of Freehold, treatment at MCDSS is individualized with a basic outpatient program that integrates evidence-based methods.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at MCDSS utilizes CBT following an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the frequency of sessions and duration of treatment. All individualized plans are developed by the client’s primary counselor. Group therapy is scheduled daily, six days a week and last anywhere from 90 minutes to three hours. Individual therapy is scheduled independently and typically lasts for 80 minutes.
Group sessions cover a variety of topics including the nature of chemical dependency, relapse prevention, building self-esteem, coping methods and independent living skills. Gender-specific groups for both men and women are available as are co-ed groups.
The staff at MCDSS consists of CADCs, LSWs and clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the substance abuse treatment program, MCDSS also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems. Food stamp services, help for individuals with developmental disabilities, child care, housing services, protective services and prevention programs are all available.
In Summary
While services at MCDSS are limited to a basic outpatient program, treatment is tailored to each individual’s needs and implement evidence-based methodologies. With both gender-specific and co-ed groups available that focus on a variety of topics, clients have access to a balanced and thorough path to recovery.
