Clients live in duplex-style double-occupancy cabins on campus furnished with bunk beds, plenty of shelving and closet space as well as desks for each client. The bathrooms are dormitory-style with multiple showers and sinks.
The main lodge holds administrative offices as well as common spaces including a spacious living room and a large dining room. There is a culinary arts program that allows students to immerse themselves in the art of cooking, with the added responsibility of helping the staff chefs prepare the meals that are served three times a day. Food is served cafeteria style with gourmet options. All dietary restrictions and preferences are met.
Other campus ammenities include a computer lab, fitness center, science lab, library, a dance studio, theatre, a music room, sauna, a sewing classroom and a visual arts center. In addition to hiking and outdoor sports, the expansive acreage includes an amphitheater, organic garden, fire pits, a wood shop, meditation garden and an active farm.

Treatment and Staff

The substance abuse treatment services offered at Monarch School are an adjunct program of therapy for those students who may be exhibiting addictive behaviors. Before beginning with treatment, the counseling staff evaluates each individual to determine the best course of therapeutic sessions.

Group therapy is scheduled once weekly and utilizes a combination of Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT and relapse prevention. Treatment aims to motivate students to change their behavior on their own and to discover the emotional content that drives their addictive tendencies.

The staff at MS consists of licensed psychologists, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs), LCSWs and MSWs.

Extras

In addition to the addictive behaviors therapy, Monarch School also offers a variety of other specialized therapy options as well as a range of recreational activities. Specialty groups are available for transitional support, family issues, ADD and ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, grief and loss and low self-esteem. Young people also participate in recreational extras including fine arts, work with a therapy dog, outdoor education and adventures and equine therapy. Students may also enroll in vocational elective courses to support their futures in sobriety and the working world.

In Summary

The Monarch School is an educational facility for young adults in need of a safe and supportive academic environment. By combining scholastic work with evidence-based therapy for social and behavioral issues including substance abuse, clients are supported as they build skills and develop tools to meet the challenges of their next phase of life. The indoor/outdoor educational approach helps students develop a solid sense of comfort in any environment while also developing independence and self reliance.
