Mission Pacific Cost Recovery Review

Mission Pacific Coast Recovery provides detox and outpatient treatment in Laguna Beach, California. The programs are situated in Mission Hospital Laguna Beach, a large acute-care center that has served the residents of Orange County for decades. Mission Pacific began as an independent facility; its programs have been operating in their current form as part of the hospital for the last eight years. Mission Pacific also provides residential treatment, though that program is only accessible to clients with Tricare, the insurance for military personnel and their dependents.

Accommodations and Food

Detox clients have roommates in the facility, which is decorated in tasteful, neutral tones to counter-act the “treatment facility” atmosphere of a hospital. There are ocean views throughout. The detox unit, which has 32 beds, has a lounge area with TVs where residents can socialize, read and play games. The unit also features a dining area to which cafeteria meals are delivered several times each day.

Treatment and Staff

Most clients stay in the detox unit for three to 10 days. As soon as they’re medically capable, usually after two days, residents are required to attend group therapy each day. They also meet with case managers to help locate residential and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

Therapy groups are led by Master’s-level therapists and CADCs and use CBT to help residents develop coping skills. Clients in need of dual diagnosis support can access the services of the hospital’s behavioral health team; however, psychiatric support is not included in the cost of detox treatment.

Mission Pacific encourages clients to use the 12-step framework and requires detox residents to attend daily on-site AA/NA meetings held on the hospital grounds.

Clients enrolled in residential treatment usually have 28-day treatment plans that follow a similar structure to detox, with daily processing groups, 12-step meetings and weekly individual therapy and case manager meetings.

Extras

There’s a large exercise room in the unit, where clients are encouraged to participate in group yoga and Zumba classes as soon as they’re physically able.

After their second day in treatment, client families can visit after attending an orientation session. For aftercare, many clients enroll in Mission Pacific’s outpatient program.

In Summary

For nearly a decade, Mission Pacific Coast Recovery has been providing medically-supervised detox that supports clients by exposing them to CBT and the 12-step framework. With case management services and an affiliated outpatient program, Mission Pacific might be an especially effective choice for those ready to invest in multiple stages of treatment.
