The Basics
Miracles in Action is an outpatient substance abuse rehab facility in Burbank, California. It was founded in 2012 by counselor Amna Butler and provides a continuum of care for clients including a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), an Outpatient Program (OP) and a co-ed sober living house located in Glendale, California.
Accommodations and Amenities
The pretty white stucco house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living and dining room area, fully equipped kitchen, an enclosed patio and a pool with a diving board. The residence accommodates about 16 clients, housed in quad or double-occupancy gender-specific rooms. There are designated smoking areas outside of the house. Amenities include a pool table, laundry room, big screen Smart TV and Wi-Fi.
While clients are responsible for their own groceries and meal preparation, there is a required household dinner at 6:30 pm Wednesday evening, followed by a house meeting. The live-in house manager prepares the Wednesday night dinner.
Rules and Regulations
Miracles in Action prefers clients who have completed at least 30 days of primary care or individuals enrolled in their outpatient program. Weekly requirements for residents include attendance at three 12-step meetings, obtaining and actively establishing a relationship with a sponsor, working on the steps and performing household chores. Participation at the Wednesday night dinner, which is followed by the house meeting, is also mandatory.
The curfew is 11 pm seven days a week. Clients undergo random drug and alcohol screenings. There is a strict zero tolerance policy. Those testing positive are immediately dismissed from the premises. The cost is $1,050 for a four-person room, and $1,250 for a double. All utilities are included in the monthly rent.
