Mindful Me is an eating disorder clinic out of Carmel, Indiana. It offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) along with group therapy, nutritional counseling and education, and a number of counseling services for adolescents and adults. Treatment uses evidence-based approaches combined with holistic modalities set within a structured and supportive atmosphere. Mindful Me was founded in 2014 by Sara Pyatt, an LMHC and CEDS, as a way to bring specialized treatment of this kind to her area when she realized there was a lack of proper eating disorder treatment to serve the population.
Treatment and Staff
An important element to focus on when it comes to treatment at Mindful Me is that clients are provided with programming that addresses the whole person as opposed to just zeroing in on their symptoms. The IOP, the main program at Mindful Me, is an ideal step-down for those who have recently left a residential program or are coming out of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and have already established a basic recovery plan. The IOP through this facility provides continued support.
The IOP is a three day a week program that consists of groups for three hours at a time. Before beginning in this track clients have to undergo a psychological, psychiatric and nutritional assessment. Once that’s completed they are placed into a group that has between two and six people in it. An example of what the three days of treatment would look like includes half hour processing therapeutic meals, 30 minutes groups, art therapy groups, therapeutic yoga, meetings with a dietitian and several goal setting sessions. There is also mindfulness training and writing therapy sessions. The IOP lasts at least six weeks.
Additional services include half hour to hour long individual therapy sessions, recovery coaching and 90 minute recovery based groups that meet weekly. These groups include lunch and follow up processing discussions.
In addition to Pyatt, the clinical team consists of a registered dietitian, an LCSW, a therapeutic yoga instructor, a psychiatrist, and Master’s-level therapists who specialize in eating disorders.
The IOP has weekly family counseling sessions folded into treatment. Couples therapy is offered as well.
Mindful Me provides a full continuum of care within the bright and cheerful walls of a centrally located facility. Treatment addresses a number of underlying issues in addition to eating disorders, and helps supply a solid foundation in recovery. This organization is an excellent resource for the Greater Indianapolis community.
