The Basics
Located in Middletown, New Jersey, Middletown Township Substance Use Services are offered by the Middletown Township’s Health Department, which oversees all of the city’s public health issues and programs. Just an hour outside of New York City, the MTSUS offers outpatient treatment through a track known as Crossroads for Monmouth County, also home to vacation destination Asbury Park.
Treatment and Staff
Crossroads is licensed by the state of New Jersey to provide basic outpatient treatment. With flexible scheduling allowing clients to participate in counseling as their schedule allows, this facility uses evidence based methods of treatment. After an initial assessment and consultation, clients form an individualized treatment plan with a counselor who determines the issues that should be the focus of individual therapy sessions, how many hours of treatment the client should attend per week and duration of treatment. Counselors are available for scheduled one-on-one sessions Monday through Friday from noon until 5 pm. Family counseling and group counseling are scheduled in both the mornings and evenings Monday through Friday.
Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings outside of the program and can be referred to a local chapter if requested. The average length of treatment is typically three months.
The staff at MTSUS consists of LPCs, CADCs and MAs.
Extras
In addition to the outpatient substance abuse treatment program, the Middletown Township Health Department also offers a range of other programs and services to clients and the broader community. Social services, emergency services, communicable disease and foodborne illness services as well as a home generated medical waste program are all available.
