The Basics

Based out of Miami, Florida, Miami Psychology Group is a loose affiliation of behavioral health practitioners who provide outpatient-based treatment programs to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Founded by Dr. Elsa M. Orlandini, the organization also encompasses several other clinical psychologists. Outpatient treatment programs are individualized and available in various intensities.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Although on-site detox services are not available, those in need can get referrals to nearby programs as necessary. Once stabilized, participants attend both group and individual therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT, though the specifics may vary by therapist.

Other approaches include play therapy, interpersonal therapy and structural family therapy as well. These programs are available to children, adolescents and adults, as well as to individuals and families. Dual diagnosis support including medication management is also available. Although 12-step participation is not always required, it may be recommended depending on the client.

The staff at Miami Group consists of Orlandini herself along with several other PhD-level clinical psychologists with various specializations including focuses on mood and eating disorders.

Extras

Other services include standalone psychological and academic testing, support for LGBTQ issues, family therapy, couples therapy, support for eating disorders and grief-related counseling as well. More general education courses are also available as are professional development services, child care, life coaching and litigation support. Those who complete a primary care regimen can also step down the intensity of their program as a form of aftercare.

In Summary

Overall, Miami Psychology Group is a well-rounded organization that offers flexible and individualized care for those suffering from a range of behavioral illnesses. Treatment plans are tailored to each client and include evidence-based treatment practices and dual diagnosis support. While the cost of treatment may vary by practitioner and program specifics, Miami Psychology Group remains a strong resource for those in the area.
