Methodist Healthcare Psychiatric Services is the behavioral health division of Methodist Healthcare, a network that started as a single hospital in 1963 and has since grown to be a healthcare provider with over 15 facilities located throughout greater San Antonio, Texas. Accommodations and Food
The accommodations for the residential treatment are held in a hospital-like setting. The psychiatric wing has double occupancy rooms as well as private rooms for an extra cost. Each room has a bathroom and shower and there are additional bathrooms on each floor. There are communal living areas and recreational areas outside. Meals are served three times a day in the cafeteria or in the client’s room if they are undergoing detox.
Treatment and Staff
The inpatient program at Methodist Healthcare offers detox services prior to the treatment program. Afterward, clients may begin official treatment, which starts with an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the level of care needed and to develop an individualized treatment program. Treatment typically consists of CBT-based group therapy twice a day, individual therapy twice a week, family therapy twice a week and educational sessions daily.
The PHP is for those who need the structure of an inpatient program but prefer to return home at the end of the day. The program meets Monday through Friday with weekends off and typically lasts one to three weeks. There is group therapy twice a day, individual therapy once a week and daily recreation/occupational therapy.
The IOP is less structured than both the inpatient and PHP. It’s 12 hours of therapy per week and lasts as long as necessary for each client. Clients typically attend therapy in the mornings or in the evenings for group sessions and once on Saturday morning for a multi-family therapy session.
As to be expected with a facility that also boasts a comprehensive medical network, all programs also cater to those with co-occurring disorders. The staff for the addiction treatment program is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, LCDCs, RNs, LPCs and LMHCs.
Extras
Methodist Healthcare’s Psychiatric Services also offers treatment for depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia and anxiety in both general adults and geriatric clients. Methodist Healthcare at large has numerous other primary care services.
