Based out of Murray, Utah near Salt Lake City, Metamorphosis is a CARF-accredited, outpatient-based treatment facility that provides flexible and individualized care plans to clients struggling with opioid dependence. The organization was founded in 1995 and serves various counties around Salt Lake City, including Davis, Morgan, Utah, Wasatch and Summit. In addition to basic counseling services, the facility also provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to stabilize clients and get them ready for the next step of recovery.
Treatment and Staff
Before participants begin a program, they must go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their treatment history and their needs. While inpatient detox services are not available, the program in general is an outpatient-based detox facility with short-term programs on offer. Once clients are accepted into the program, they begin a care plan, which generally includes daily MAT dosing of either methadone or Suboxone.
As they are stabilizing, clients also attend individual and group therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT. Sessions cover a range of basic topics including life skills, trigger identification, relapse prevention, emotional processing and other related topics. Throughout the program, clients are also encouraged to attend nearby 12-step meetings as well. Programs are typically short-term, lasting for one to two weeks. Dual diagnosis support is not available, though referrals to nearby programs can be made as necessary.
The staff at Metamorphosis consists of supervising nurses, LCSWs, LMHCs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
As mentioned, the facility can individualize and customize programs to suit each person’s needs. Those who complete one of these primary care plans can also work with counselors and case managers to develop step-down aftercare plans in the area as well.
Overall, Metamorphosis provides a basic if necessary care regimen for clients struggling with opioid addiction. All programs are outpatient-based, short-term and individualized, with a combination of MAT and evidence-based therapy to help participants get their lives back on track. While those in need of more comprehensive psychiatric aid may need to find additional help elsewhere, Metamorphosis remains a strong resource for those in the area.
