The Basics
With several locations throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, Mercy Health System is dedicated to bringing integrated health care services to its local communities. Mercy’s facility in Janesville, Wisconsin is the only one that treats substance abuse. From detox to a variety of outpatient programs, Mercy provides clients with a path to sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Mercy Health System includes a range of outpatient services like adult day treatment and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Dual diagnosis support is available. Before enrolling, each client must undergo an initial phone assessment, which is free of charge and is used to determine what level of care is needed. For those in need of medically monitored detox, the process generally lasts between two to three days and occurs at the Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville.
Adult day treatment meets Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 2:30 pm and includes a mixture of group and individual therapy as well as educational lectures. IOP meets three times a week for three hours at a time. The last level of outpatient care meets once a week for three hours and also includes both group and individual therapy.
Topics discussed in the outpatient programs include relapse prevention, coping skills, family communication and anger management. Evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT are used frequently, but 12-step philosophy is not a component. Groups never exceed 10 clients.
One-on-one counseling for addiction is also available at all three locations. Individual therapy must also begin with an initial in-person assessment.
The staff includes board certified psychiatrists, licensed psychologists, LSWs, Master’s level-therapists and nurse practitioners.
