The Basics
Mental Health Services of Southern Oklahoma (MHSSO) is a mental and behavioral health treatment agency that provides a wide range of services to Southern Oklahoma communities. With six locations, clients have the option to attend treatment at the location that best suits their recovery needs. MHSSO offers outpatient substance abuse treatment that also accommodates people struggling with co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
MHSSO’s substance abuse treatment program caters to each individual’s unique recovery needs in an environment that focuses on education and healing. There is no preset duration, instead the length of treatment is entirely dependent on the personal needs and progress of each client. After an initial evaluation and assessment, clients are assigned a primary counselor who explains the variety of treatment options available, providing guidance as to which option would be best for their recovery.
Treatment plans typically combine individual and group therapy, educational lectures and family therapy and relapse prevention programs. All therapies are based in CBT methodology, with a special group for clients requiring dual diagnosis support that focuses on how to maintain sobriety with the added challenge of managing mental illness. Twelve-step recovery principles are not integrated into treatment, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings outside of their program requirements.
The staff at MHSSO consists of LPCs, CADCs, CSWs, LMHCs and therapists.
