The Basics
Mental Health Comprehensive Services (commonly referred to as MHCS) is a team of clinical professionals providing outpatient mental and behavioral health treatment. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, clients have access to numerous other resources of a large city to aid them during their recovery. MHCS offers a solid Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for those clients in need of something more structured than its standard outpatient program.
Treatment and Staff
The PHP offered by MHCS is designed specifically for those with co-occurring disorders. In order to be admitted into the program, individuals need to have a psychiatric diagnosis. They undergo an initial evaluation and assessment to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored around their unique needs. Clients attend treatment Mondays through Fridays from nine am to five pm. The program consists of three phases, each including of a different number of sessions and topics. Sessions may include group therapy, individual therapy, trauma-informed care, family therapy and specialized groups for specific mental disorders.
Phase I consists of 24 sessions and focuses on helping clients gain stabilization with their mental and chemical health. Phase II consists of 24 sessions and focuses on overcoming the client’s emotional problems or issues such as trauma, healthy relationships, grief and loss. Lastly, Phase III consists of 12 sessions and focuses on the client’s independence both in recovery and adult life. The psychotherapy implemented is based in CBT methodology; the 12 steps are not integrated.
The staff at MHCS boasts LCSWs, LADCs, CADCs, psychologists and LPCs.

As previously mentioned, MHCS is an extensive healthcare network and facilitates individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, family and couples psychotherapy, children and adolescent psychotherapy, medication management, community support and case management services.
