The Basics
Meier Clinic has several locations throughout the US. Its Texas outpatient treatment facility specializes in the care of clients struggling with mental illnesses like anxiety and depression. It’s also open to those with alcohol and substance use disorders. With two locations in the Dallas area, the facility offers a Christian-based treatment curriculum that includes outpatient therapy and a day and evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), as well as an adolescent track. While the 12-step recovery model is not a component of treatment, medication management is available for clients with co-occurring mental health conditions in need of dual diagnosis support.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment at Meier Clinic, clients first go through a comprehensive mental health assessment. It includes a psychological and substance use history as well as personal circumstances and spiritual goals. In addition to outpatient services, Meier Clinic offers a comprehensive IOP with day and evening options. The IOP is ideal for clients that require consistent therapy but cannot commit to a residential program as well as individuals transitioning out of inpatient back into regular life. While the length of the day program varies from client to client, individuals typically participate five days a week for between three and four weeks. The evening program goes three nights a week for between five and six weeks. It is a perfect option for individuals that cannot take time away from work or school. Upon completion of the IOP, most clients transition to once a week outpatient therapy.
Meier Clinic believes in the importance of Christian principles and a balanced lifestyle to a successful treatment. While a Biblical worldview permeates the treatment curriculum, the facility also incorporates an array of supplemental therapies including holistic methods, evidence-based practices, life skills training and medication management. Clients engage in regular one on one and daily group sessions grounded in CBT and solution focused therapy. The treatment team also integrates art therapy and mindfulness meditation. In addition, skills groups focus on setting realistic goals for progress and learning coping strategies, as well as forming positive habits for spiritual growth. IOP clients meet with a psychiatrist daily for medication management.
