The Basics
The Meier Clinic is a non-profit treatment organization that specializes in a Christ-centered approach to care. It’s designed to help men and women struggling with mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety and trauma, as well as alcohol and substance use disorders. With five locations in the Chicago area, Meier Clinic employs a large, accomplished multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and nurses. The bio-psycho-social-spiritual curriculum spans outpatient and PHP treatment. The Meier Clinic primarily offers outpatient individual, couples and family counseling. While the 12-step recovery model is not a component of the programming, medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders in need of dual diagnosis support.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment at Meier Clinic, clients first undergo a comprehensive assessment that helps the team determine the most effective individualized treatment program customized to meet the specific needs, goals and circumstances of the individual. In addition to outpatient therapy, Meier Clinic also offers a comprehensive Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with day and evening scheduling options. The program is ideal for clients in need of consistent therapy but cannot commit to a residential plan. Clients can receive care while continuing to work or go to school. While the length of care varies depending on the client’s needs, individuals typically stay in the PHP for between three and four weeks. Clients in the day program between Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, and the evening program is between Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 9 pm.
Meier Clinic utilizes an integrative model of care that incorporates an array of therapeutic methods into a Christian curriculum. While spirituality is a cornerstone of the programming, the facility also provides evidence-based practices, traditional therapies and holistic methods. Clients engage in individual and group therapy rooted in CBT, DBT and EMDR to treat trauma. The facility also offers relationship and interpersonal therapy, client-centered methods and solution-focused therapy. Clients also engage in mindfulness meditation and family systems therapy helps clients understand the family as an emotional unit.
The Meier Clinics of Illinois employ a team made up of PhDs, PsyDs, psychiatrists, nurses and Master’s-level therapists. Medication management is available for clients with co-occurring mental illnesses in need of dual diagnosis support.

The Meier Clinic offers neurofeedback to teach clients how to regulate otherwise involuntary bodily functions like muscle tension and blood pressure.
