The Basics
MedMark Treatment Services is an outpatient treatment organization with 20 locations throughout California, Maryland, Texas and Georgia. Established in 2006, MedMark’s focus is serving those struggling with opiate addictions. The programs offered include medication assisted treatment and individual counseling.
Treatment and Staff
When clients come in for an initial meeting with an intake counselor, an individualized plan is developed to decide what treatment course would be most effective. Across their various locations, MedMark uses three different medications to aid in curbing opiate cravings and risk of relapse: methadone, Suboxone and Naltrexone. Facilities offer clients the option of either a 21-day detox process or a maintenance program.
The 21-day detox begins with a higher medication dosage and tapers off over three weeks, while the maintenance program maintains the same dosage throughout the treatment. If clients choose to go the maintenance route, after 90 days of consistent medication they may begin a take-home program, which would allow them to cut down significantly on in-person visits to the clinic.
In addition to the medication, MedMark also requires up to four individual counseling sessions per month with an addiction specialist, as well as participation in relapse prevention and job skills classes. If it appears that a client would need more treatment than is available through an outpatient program, the facility can make referrals to outside agencies.
All of MedMark’s facilities are overseen and operated by physicians, as well as counselors who are CADCs and LCSWs.
Extras
MedMark offers special treatment and education to pregnant women and mothers of young children. There is also an aftercare program catered to each client that can include job placement services or follow-up care.
In Summary
Overall, MedMark provides significant medical care and medication for clients and families. The individually crafted treatment plans offered by the facility acknowledge the complexity of addiction, and that not every client has the same experience. Those that need an affordable opiate withdrawal program with medical support may find MedMark a good fit.
