The Basics
Based out of Metropolis, Illinois, Massac County Mental Health and Family Counseling Center is a non-profit behavioral health organization that offers affordable care to clients of all ages. Programs are outpatient-based and treat individuals, couples and families.
Treatment and Staff
After initial intake (walk-ins welcome), clients are given an individualized treatment plan made up of individual and group therapy. Treatment employs evidence-based practices with an eclectic approach. While CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are often incorporated, clinicians are trained in a range of modalities that are used at their discretion. Though some dual diagnosis support is offered for anxiety, depression and trauma, clients with more severe co-occurring disorders may need to seek additional outside help. Additionally, those in need of more intensive care may receive referrals to inpatient programs.
While 12-step participation is not a requirement of the program, clients are encouraged to attend meetings if they wish.
Staff consists of Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs), LCSWs, CACDs and Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs).
Extras
Additional services include specialized programs for anger management as well as couples and family counseling. It also has community outreach and preventative programs at local schools. Court-ordered clients can get DUI and probation related services.
Aftercare is available for those who complete primary care in the form of stepped down therapy.
