Another ultra-premium Malibu outfit, Malibu Vista has only been around for about two years. It’s often considered Elements Behavioral Health’s sister version of the esteemed Promises facility but geared more for mental health and established exclusively for women.
Accommodations and Food
Housing here means a secluded property and a private hillside home setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Malibu Vista has room for only six women at a time, with comfortable bedrooms each with enormous, plush comforters. They also employ a squad of gourmet chefs that create customized meals with the help of nutritionists to ensure all residents have the healthiest diets possible.
Treatment and Staff
Malibu Vista does not have detox so clients in need of that will have to do so elsewhere prior to admission. After initial psych testing and assessments, residents and the staff design personalized treatment plans, all grounded in a holistic treatment both traditional and alternative approaches. They welcome clients with nearly every disorder that exists (including borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, love and sex addiction and many more in between).
A typical day at the facility begins with breakfast at 7 am followed by time for physical activity and a small group session. After that is an individualized group before lunch, while afternoons offer two more group sessions and another individual session. Dinner is at 5:30, with rotating after-dinner activities.
The overall philosophy and treatment goals here include building social skills, learning healthier overall lifestyles and breaking the cycle of addiction and relapse. One really positive aspect worth noting: though many places claim to offer individualized care, Malibu Vista’s enormous staff and small number of clients provides the opportunity for that to definitely be the case.
Extras
Malibu Vista also offers an entire vocational skills development program, recreational activities that include gym and museum trips, and thorough exercise and nutritional counseling to make sure residents are healthy in mind, body and spirit (including guidance from food addiction expert and New York Times best-selling author Pamela Peeke).
