Malibu Hills Treatment Center Review
Since 2010, Malibu Hills Treatment Center has been offering luxury residential substance abuse treatment in Malibu, California. The Malibu Hills Treatment Center’s program does not subscribe to a 12-step or faith-based approach, instead offering a wide range of holistic treatment options. Malibu Hills only accepts clients with co-occurring disorders.
Accommodations and Food
Surrounded by mountains and in close proximity to the beach, the Malibu Hills Treatment Center’s co-ed accommodations are located in a luxurious, private home which boasts its own pool and jacuzzi. Malibu Hills’ offers private and gender-specific double rooms to clients at different price points (private accommodation goes for a little under $60,000, while a shared room is available for about $40,000). Malibu Hills accepts a maximum of 12 clients at a time. A gourmet chef cooks all food for clients which is provided at the all-inclusive cost of stay.
Treatment and Staff
Upon entering the Malibu Hills program clients undergo intake and then proceed to detox in their own room if necessary. After detox, clients are assigned a personal therapist and a psychiatrist. The group therapy in which they take part daily is facilitated by a different therapist than their own. Observing an eight am wake up time, clients take part in different group sessions throughout the day, as well as a weekly individual session with their assigned therapist and another one with their psychiatrist.
Therapy sessions all conclude by five pm, after which clients have the option of attending off-site AA/NA meetings, being expected to be back on-site at Malibu Hills for lights out at 11 pm. In between group sessions and therapeutic activities such as Reiki, massages, daily exercise, yoga and meditation clients also get plenty of downtime. Modalities employed at Malibu Hills include CBT, DBT, equine and art therapy, neurofeedback as well as optional spiritual counseling.
Malibu Hills employs a number of Master’s-level therapists and psychiatrists, a hypnotherapist and a medical doctor.
Extras
Visiting hours are Mondays to Thursdays between nine am and four pm. On weekends, clients may go on outings to the nearby beach, to the movies on Sundays and sometimes to restaurants on weekends.
