Located 30 minutes east of Austin, Texas, Makana Path is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as individuals with co-occurring disorders like depression and trauma. Makana Path offers a curriculum of care that spans a comprehensive medical detox and a structured spiritual Intensive Healing Program. Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a thorough assessment that includes symptoms, current situation and a medical, substance and psychological history. Based off the evaluation, an individualized care strategy is developed tailored to the unique needs of the individual client. Clients typical transition directly into the detox program. Makana provides a comprehensive medical detox process that includes around-the-clock supervision and medication to help curb withdrawal symptoms. While the length of detox varies depending on the individual, the process typically lasts between three and five days. Makana offers three and six week Intensive Healing Program options ideal for clients that cannot commit to a residential program.
Makana provides a multi-faceted approach to care that integrates a number of therapeutic methods including case management, holistic measures, the 12-step recovery model, evidence-based practices and medication management. Clients engage in three weekly individual therapy sessions, regular group sessions and family therapy rooted in DBT, CBT, CPT, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and EMDR to treat trauma as a causal component of current conditions. In addition, the facility offers sober coaching, case management services, relapse prevention and alternative therapies like somatic experiences, psychodrama, narrative and life story therapy. Makana also incorporates experiential components such as physical fitness, meditation, yoga and day outings to go hiking and swimming.
The Makana Path team is comprised of MDs, LCDCs, trauma specialists, addiction specialists and a nursing team. As previously mentioned, medication management is available.
