Maitri Healing Psychotherapy Practice is the private practice of psychotherapist and LCSW Erin Eagles. With offices in Allentown and Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Eagles works with children starting at age six, adolescents and teenagers, and adults who are having trouble with a number of issues including depression and anxiety; eating disorders; body image concerns; OCD and other phobias; and trauma and problems within or surrounding their LGBTQ status. Eagles offers her services for individuals and groups along with family members and couples. The name Maitri is translated from Buddhism to mean “the basis of compassion,” which is how Eagles approaches all of her clients.
The initial session for any incoming client is an evaluation process for Eagles, who then designs a customized treatment plan that includes goals. For younger clients it is necessary for the parents to be a fundamental aspect of treatment, and Eagles communicates and works with them as well. Prior to the first visit, clients are able to fill out a form on Eagles’s website that details what they are coming in for and what their experience and history has been with receiving mental health treatment.
Eagles addresses a number of concerns including unwanted thoughts, self harm, fears and anxieties. Implementing a holistic approach to treat the whole person, she often coordinates care with medical doctors, dietitians and psychiatrists. Medication management is not an option at Maitri, however, if that appears to be a step that would be helpful to the client, Eagles is able to offer the appropriate resources and referrals.
Clients can expect evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, Attachment Based Therapy, Mindfulness, Existential, Family Systems and Play Therapy. In addition to talk therapy, Eagles often suggests additional tools or coping skills to assist with therapy, such as meditation, exercises, yoga, more sleep or Alanon.
For clients who are not able to receive treatment in her office, Eagle’s does offer telehealth counseling services.
Through her work at Maitri Healing Psychotherapy Practice, Erin Eagles doesn’t seek to “cure” her clients, but rather to help them find their happiness organically by using practical approaches and kindness. Eagles emphasises that there is no certain way to receive therapy and that every client is an individual, so focusing on their strengths and building from there is the most effective method.
