The Basics
Based out of Houston, Texas, Luna Recovery is a multi-faceted behavioral health organization with flexible treatment programming for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. In addition to its sober living programs for those who have already completed a primary care regimen, the Luna Recovery network also offers outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients go through an initial intake and bio-psycho-social screening to help staff members determine their needs. Although medical detox services are not available on-site, those in need can get referrals to trusted nearby programs. Luna Recovery offers two distinct IOP tracks for clients in different stages of recovery. The first is a primary care track for those just beginning treatment while the latter is a step down option for those in the process of discharging.
Though the focus of each track differs somewhat, each meets for three hours per session for nine to 12 hours a week. Programs last six to eight weeks and include individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT, DBT and EMDR. Group sessions cover 12-step recovery concepts, trauma-informed care and psychoeducation. Treatment plans are somewhat customizable and can also include family therapy and experiential therapies as well (which vary by therapist). Dual diagnosis support is also available including medication management.
The staff at Luna Recovery IOP consists of LCDCs, LPCs, LCSWs, MDs, psychiatrists and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
As mentioned, the organization also offers aftercare plans in the form of stepped down IOP tracks as well as more lenient outpatient plans. Standalone individual therapy is also available.
Other services include early interventions and holistic therapy including mindfulness training and yoga. Off-site adventure therapy may also be included for an additional cost. Family case management services are also available.
