The Basics
Luna Counseling LLP, founded in 2008, is a mental health and substance abuse counseling facility in Colorado. With two locations, one in Granby and the other in Winter Park, clients have the opportunity to choose which location best suits their treatment and recovery needs. Luna Counseling was founded by Andy and Carolina Thomasson, two fully licensed, Master’s-level mental health providers.
The substance abuse treatment program offered by Luna Counseling is exclusively outpatient. Additionally, assessments and DUI services and education are available.
Treatment and Staff
Luna Counseling caters to all genders, ages and sexual orientations and provides counseling for any type of addiction. Before clients begin treatment, they undergo an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the level of care needed and to begin developing an individualized treatment plan which dictates the types of therapies most beneficial to the client’s particular recovery needs and the frequency of those sessions.
All forms of counseling offered are consistent with CBT methodology and include individual and group therapy, family therapy, adolescent therapy and couples therapy. Group sessions are scheduled several times throughout the week at times that allow clients to maintain a normal work or school schedule. The schedules vary between locations and one-on-one sessions are scheduled independently between clients and their counselor depending on availability and need.
Luna Counseling also offers DUI Education classes and an adolescent substance abuse treatment program for young people who are on diversion or probation. All programs are also offered in Spanish. The 12 steps are not integrated into treatment, but clients are strongly encouraged to attend NA/AA meetings outside of the program and may be referred to a local chapter upon request.
The staff at Luna Counseling consists of an LCSW, CAC II’s, an LPC and an MA.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program, Luna Counseling also offers a variety of other treatment and counseling services. Treatment for co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression and PTSD, as well as counseling for life transitions including relationship issues, employment related struggles, personal growth, divorce and parenting are all available. There is also aid with legal issues and an employment assistance program.
