The Basics
Located in the small, upscale city of Westlake Village, California, which is about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Ludington Institute for Family Enrichment (LIFE) is a comprehensive mental health facility that specializes in the treatment of clients struggling with mental health and emotional disorders. LIFE was established in 1995 by Alan Ludington, MS, MDiv, MFT, who has a background in Christian counseling and addiction treatment. His goal with LIFE is to offer comprehensive, integrated therapeutic services to individuals, couples and families. The facility offers outpatient services including individual and group child, adolescent and family therapy; trauma work; issue-based therapy and couples counseling.
Treatment and Staff
New clients at Ludington Institute for Family Enrichment undergo an extensive assessment that considers emotional, cultural and behavioral factors. LIFE offers clients a comprehensive approach to treatment that integrates evidence-based and holistic methods. Clients with severe mood disorders receive medication management as needed. This helps the staff create an individualized treatment program this is customized to fit the specific needs of the client. Outpatient counseling programs offer a vast array of therapies including evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT and EMDR to treat past trauma. In addition, the facility offers workshops that teach stress management and coping skills.
For individuals and families struggling with addiction, LIFE offers a specialized treatment track staff to treat many forms of addiction, along with the effects on couples and families. As part of this program, there are on-site men’s recovery groups available, as well as referrals to local recovery programs (like AA, NA and Alanon). LIFE also has working relationships with a number of inpatient and outpatient programs that specialize in treating both adult and adolescent chemical dependency issues and can provide recommendations to those who need a higher level of care.
The team of Ludington Institute for Family Enrichment is comprised of Master’s-level therapists, LCSWs, psychologists and consulting psychiatrists.
