The Basics
Lower Merion Counseling Services offers mental and behavioral health treatment services as part of the non-profit human service agency, Resources for Human Development (RHD). With numerous locations spanning across the country, clients of RHD have the option to choose the location that best suits their recovery needs. Treatment and Staff
Clients must detox prior to entering the outpatient treatment program offered by Lower Merion Counseling Services. Clients undergo an initial evaluation to help counselors develop an individualized treatment plan that caters to the recovery needs of the client. The treatment plan dictates the types of therapy and frequency of sessions. The types of therapy offered include CBT, DBT, trauma-related counseling and REBT. These treatment methodologies are implemented through individual and group therapy, family therapy and relapse prevention. There is also a co-occurring disorders group and specialized individual counseling available for dual diagnosis clients. Individual and family therapy are scheduled between client and counselor, while group therapy and relapse prevention are held every day of the week at various times. The 12 steps are not incorporated in the program, but clients are encouraged to attend meetings and counselors may refer them upon request.
The staff at Lower Merion Counseling Services consists of psychiatrists, LCSWs, psychologists and mental health counselors.
