The Basics
The Los Angeles LGBT Center is a facility in West Hollywood, California that offers, among many other services, treatment for mental health issues, including recovery from drugs and alcohol. The center is operated among seven different facilities in Los Angeles, but it is headquartered in West Hollywood and many of its drug treatment programs meet in its McDonald/Wright building in Hollywood. The Los Angeles LGBT Center is home to a renowned outpatient program aimed at helping clients recover from addiction to crystal meth.
Treatment and Staff
Many 12-step meetings are hosted at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Clients also have access to a highly trained staff of therapists, who lead both individual and group therapy focused on abstaining or greatly reducing one’s use of crystal meth and other drugs. Therapists encourage clients to assess and reflect on their drug use in terms of how much their addiction is costing them—monetarily, personally, professionally, and emotionally, versus how much they are benefitting from using. In a program specifically designed to help with addiction to crystal meth called “Methology,” clients meet over the course of five group and individual sessions and work toward individual goals for ceasing use.
A large number of other evening outpatient programs are available, of which are designed to help clients reach their goals of a safer and healthier life, in an environment that is nonjudgmental and sensitive to the unique needs of LGBT individuals. Treatment of dual diagnosis is available, and individuals who are struggling with issues like depression and anxiety are offered guidance in helping to formulate a treatment plan that addresses their needs.

In addition to offering treatment for recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, the Los Angeles LGBT Center is a rich and thriving community of service that has existed in colorful West Hollywood since 1969. The center also offers things like primary care and HIV/AIDS testing, as well as housing for homeless LGBT youth and a wide array of cultural and educational offerings that include gallery showings and theatrical productions. The Los Angeles LGBT Center is truly an integral part of the iconic and progressive city that is West Hollywood.
